The Unlovable Creature

Amidst the fields of green and gold,

There lived a creature, often told,

To be unloved, uncared, alone,

Its heart heavy as a stone.

It slinks in shadows, hides from light,

Afraid of judgment, wrong or right,

Its form unlike the world has seen,

A body strange and eyes obscene.

But still it breathes, still it tries,

To find a place beneath the skies,

Where it can rest, where it can be,

Accepted for all that it can be.

So if you see it on your way,

Take care, take pity, do not stray,

For it's just like us, lost and scared,

In search of love, in search of care.
