Tackle Burnout with these Tips!

Are you facing burnout because of too much work in college? Worry no more because if you follow these steps, you’ll overcome burnout. These tips that I am about to share have been researched and have been used personally (so it’s valid to say that these are my points or tips).

It’s common that all of us to work hard in college to help make a good career. Some of us work hard toward academic success, while others focus on extracurricular success. Recently (during my 2nd year, I would say), there was lots of work from college and extracurricular activities, because of which I started facing burnout, where I would have no strength to work and always felt drowsy and dizzy.

So, to cope with all this, the following are the few steps that I used to feel better:

  1. Movies: Several articles that I read suggested, on a positive note, that watching movies does provide comfort for your stress because it involves enjoyment and a sense of relief. During the time I was facing this issue, watching movies became frequent, so whenever there was stress, I’d watch something and feel relieved or motivated to work.

  2. Music: Some of the articles that I read suggest that since music can reduce cortisol levels, it can help reduce stress and burnout. Music has been my escapade for a long time because whenever I faced any issue, I’d listen to music to forget it. Similarly, when faced with stress, I grab my headphones and tune in to listen to music to reduce stress.

  3. Sleep: You all might have read and heard this everywhere, but sleep, out of all the points, is the most effective in my opinion. Sleeping reduces stress and burnout because when you’re stressed, your entire physiology is exhausted, so sleeping helps the body recover. I recall that during my exams, I would sleep early the night before and wake up early in the morning for revision, and that is when I felt energized to study or work better.

  4. Play games. I know what you all might be thinking about why I’m talking about this point. Games result in the release of dopamine and do reduce stress (unless you are playing stressful games, then that would worsen your case). During times I feel stressed or am not in a position to work, I involve myself in playing relaxing games (Sky: Children of the Light is a roleplaying game that is, in my opinion, the best stress reduction game).

I hope this short blog has been informative. These points are clear from my point of view, so they may work for some and may not work for others, as people have different ways to cope with the same.
