Is it real or is it a myth?

Do you guys recall the two characters from the X-Men series - Jean Grey & Professor X. To make it easy to make you all understand, you guys must be knowing or have heard of another Marvel character called Doctor Strange.

If you guys have guessed till now, in this blog I’ll try to cover psychic abilities (you read that right). Before I begin about psychic abilities, there is a book that I’d read a couple of times which is named Extrasensory Perception (Joseph Banks Rhine, 1934) where the topic of supernatural abilities such as clairvoyance & telepathy is something that grabbed my attention.

Clairvoyance in brief is the ability to predict things in a way that is beyond normal sensory perception. Telepathy in brief is the ability to communicate information from one mind to another through unknown channels. Does the question arise is that are these even real or just a concept made to entertain moviegoers?

To start talking about the history of this topic, this specific topic comes under the category of ‘parapsychology’. It has been rumored that this field came into being from another religious and philosophical aspect called Spiritualism which was the main reason for the popularity of parapsychology. In the 20th century, the popularity of this field peaked after people watched The Exorcist (1973). This was academically studied since the Victorian Era but it has declined because of the lack of proof.

I’d like to state something that happened to me, there have been several instances where I have experienced things that I dreamt of would manifest in the real world. It was a repetitive episode and you all may say that clairvoyance is real but it was a coincidence. But different researchers have tried to prove if this ability was real or imagined. According to their theory about Extra Sensory Perception (ESP) they tried to establish the fact that unconscious stimuli show possible future events even if our conscious self might not believe what we have experienced.

When it comes to telepathy, the researchers didn’t find much proof of the existence of "reading minds". However, they did conclude that coincidence is a huge aspect in this field of pseudoscience. People may experience situations where they perceive the fact that something supernatural has happened to them but in reality, most supernatural events are either a coincidence or the person is choosing to believe what isn't true.

Psychic abilities may be real for some but this blog is my personal opinion so to conclude I'd like to state from my point of view that they don't exist.
